The Russian Federation is committing ecocide and ecological terror against Ukraine, having carried out strikes on the Odessa region and the city of Dnipro, which resulted in large-scale oil spills.
This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.
The Center for Countering Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine was reminded of the strike on a plant in Dnipro on January 5, as a result of which more than 300 tons of vegetable oil spilled onto the road.
“This strike is another example of the targeted destruction of civilian infrastructure, which has not only economic but also serious environmental consequences,” the statement said.
The Center for Countering Disinformation emphasized that strikes on food industry enterprises are being carried out systematically and are aimed at creating a food shortage in the country.
“At the same time, such strikes lead to contamination of soil, water and transport infrastructure, which poses a long-term threat to the environment and human health,” the report said.
The Center for Countering Disinformation also recalled the strike on a civilian vessel in the Odessa region, as a result of which sunflower oil fell into the Black Sea. Oily stains formed on the surface of the water, and the affected birds were rescued and sent for rehabilitation.
“The Russian Federation continues ecological terror against Ukraine and the Black Sea. Strikes on ports, civilian industrial and logistics facilities deliberately create large-scale environmental risks, the consequences of which go far beyond the combat zone,” the Center for Countering Disinformation noted.
