Russia declared a ceasefire, but then dropped almost 100 guided bombs on the Sumy region

Having declared a ceasefire on the eve of May 9, Russia still continued to strike Ukraine. Almost 100 guided bombs have been dropped on the Sumy region alone since the beginning of May 8.

This was stated by the head of the communications department of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yuriy Ignat: “Putin’s truce, a parade one, began with the fact that after zero hours, the Russian tactical aviation simply bombed the Sumy region.”

According to him, despite the fact that the Russian military did not use Shahed drones since last night, the Russians are striking with guided bombs.

“Literally from 2:30 am, such raids on the Sumy region by the KABs themselves began. As of now, almost 100 guided bombs have flown in just one Sumy region since 2:30 am,” he explained.

He noted that the threat of using aerial weapons also persists in the South and East.

“Also, a large number of Russian drones are on the line of contact in the South, along the Dnieper River. The Russians are keeping them for a reason. Such drones provide data on aerial reconnaissance in order to fire from ground systems, artillery, and so on,” Ignat said.
