Russia deported or forcibly relocated more than 19,000 Ukrainian children

During the full-scale invasion, Russia deported or forcibly relocated 19,546 children. At the same time, it was possible to return 1,012 children. This was announced by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets.

“On November 20, the World Children’s Day is annually celebrated all over the world. It was on this day that the UN General Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child and the Convention on the Rights of the Child. But the Russian Federation violates them on a large scale,” he noted.

The Ombudsman informed that according to official data, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion: 592 children have died, 1702 have been injured, 1934 are considered missing. At the same time, Russia deported or forcibly relocated 19,546 young Ukrainians.

The Commissioner emphasized that the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine works to protect the rights of the child, for which a separate direction operates in the institution. At the same time, Ukraine returns children from the occupied territories and the Russian Federation within the framework of the action plan of the president Bring Kids Back UA and the fourth point of the Peace Formula. “With the efforts of state bodies, international partners and public organizations, 1,012 children have already been returned from the temporarily occupied territories and the Russian Federation,” Lubinets said.
