Russia exploits the gaming industry for war purposes. The ideologues of Putin’s regime are paying close attention to the potential of esports for spreading propaganda and preparing cybersport players for actual combat at the frontline. Under the Kremlin’s directives Russian schools will include “design and management of UAVs” in their curriculum under the guise of esports.

“All esports players have developed fine motor skills, most of them are excellent at remotely controlling objects, and this easily transforms into controlling modern unmanned technology (UAVs)” said Dmitry Smith, Chairman of the Russian Esports Federation.
