Explosions were heard in the Myrhorod district of the Poltava region on the evening of May 8, that is, during the so-called “truce” declared by the Russian Federation. As it turned out, Ukrainian air defense was operating in the area against Russian targets.
This was reported by the head of the Poltava regional military administration Volodymyr Kohut. As he specified, the air defense fired at a Russian missile.
“On May 8, during the last air alert in the Myrhorod district, air defense was operating. As a result of the shooting down of a Russian missile, the roofs and glazing of private houses were damaged by the blast wave. Fortunately, there were no victims or injuries,” the official noted.
Volodymyr Kohut thanked the air defense forces for their work and showed the consequences of the missile explosion.
According to the Air Force of Ukraine, the above-mentioned alert (it is not the “last” one – from 21:45 to 22:05 air alert signals also sounded in the region) began at 19:39. It was reported about a ballistic missile heading through Sumy to Poltava region.
Explosions in the Lokhvytsia area were reported at 19:57.
