On the morning of January 27, the Russian military attacked the Lviv region with drones. The Druzhba oil pipeline, which is used to transport Russian oil to Hungary and Slovakia, was under attack.
This is the first attack on this oil pipeline in Ukraine. In the morning, the head of the Lviv regional military administration, Maksym Kozytsky, reported that a Russian drone attacked an infrastructure facility in the Zolochiv district. After that, specialists from the Lviv regional center for disease control and prevention recorded a temporary excess of carbon monoxide levels in the village of Smilne.
The Brody city council reported that smoke had appeared as a result of the emergency situation as a result of the combustion of petroleum products. Subsequently, the local authorities decided to suspend the educational process in secondary education institutions on January 27-28, 2026, and transfer educational institutions to distance learning, and create duty groups in community preschools.
The population of Brody was also urged not to be outside, close windows tightly, and carry out wet cleaning.
Naftogaz also commented on the morning shelling of critical infrastructure: they reported a strike on a Naftogaz facility in the western region, without specifying in which region the attack was carried out. As a result of the hit, a fire broke out.
“For safety reasons, in order to protect people and prevent environmental pollution, the company’s specialists immediately stopped technological processes at the facility,” the company reported.
They emphasized that Russia had carried out the 15th targeted attack on Naftogaz facilities since the beginning of January.
At the end of 2025, the Druzhba gas main caught fire at night. Before that, locals heard a loud explosion. At the same time, emergency workers managed to prevent the fire from spreading further to residential buildings and other infrastructure facilities.
