During this time, the aggressor country killed more than 9.6 thousand Ukrainian civilians, and more than 17.5 thousand were injured. Such data is provided by the United Nations as of September 2023. However, the number of victims is increasing every day, because the occupying army strikes the civilian population of Ukraine and commits new war crimes.

The most extensive and bloodiest crimes by the Russian Federation against the civilian population of Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022.

Kharkiv

On March 1, 2022, the Russians fired two cruise missiles at the administration building of the Kharkiv Military Administration on Svobody Square. As a result of enemy shelling, 29 people were killed, another 35 were injured. At the time of the attack, the building was occupied by security forces, military personnel and volunteers. In June 2022, the building was recognized by the regional military administration as not subject to restoration.

On the night of March 17, 2022, the Russian military again delivered a powerful blow to the city. The dormitory was shelled with an “Iskander” missile. Already in the morning of the next day, the occupiers launched another series of rocket attacks on the city. Then 25 people died, another 35 were injured.

On March 9, 2022, Russian troops dropped an aerial bomb on a residential building in Izyum. Dozens of people were hiding in the basement there. According to official data, 44 people died. Mariupol

Probably the bloodiest war crime of the Russian Federation is the attack on the drama theater in Mariupol on March 16, 2022.

The exact number of dead is still unknown and is unlikely to be established – the occupiers, after capturing the city, demolished the theater building to hide the traces of their crimes. At the time of the attack, hundreds of peaceful residents of Mariupol, who lost their homes due to shelling by the Russian army, were hiding there. Previously, the attack on the theater claimed the lives of about 600 people.

In a few days, on March 20, 2022, the Russians again dealt a bloody blow to Mariupol. The occupiers dropped bombs on Art School No. 12 in the Left Bank district of Mariupol, where about 400 Mariupol residents – women, children and the elderly – were hiding. The exact number of victims is unknown.

Mykolaiv

In Mykolaiv, on March 29, 2022, an enemy rocket partially destroyed the building of the regional state administration. The impact fell on the fourth floor of the building, leaving a large hole from the ninth to the first floor in its central part, as a result of which a third of the nine-story building was completely destroyed, and the rest is in a state of disrepair. At the same time, 37 people died and 36 were injured.

Researchers from the Truth Hounds organization came to the conclusion that, with a high probability, a 3M-14 type cruise missile was used to strike the building of the regional government, which was launched from the Kalibr-NK missile complex on the Admiral Essen frigate of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Navy, which 29 In March 2022, he was in the waters of the Black Sea.

The Russian occupiers tried to blame Ukraine for the missile attack, saying that the Russian armed forces allegedly did not have ” Tochka U” in their arsenal for a long time. Russian propaganda also spread reports about the shelling of the Kramatorsk train station by Russian troops, but immediately after the evidence of the mass death of civilians appeared, these records began to be deleted and edited. On May 21, 2022, the Security Service of Ukraine announced that it had received irrefutable evidence of involvement in this shelling of the Russian occupiers.

Thanks to a number of studies of the missile’s flight path and analysis of other aspects, it was possible to establish that the strike was carried out from the territory of the Donetsk region, which has been under Russian occupation since 2014. Experts have confirmed that the Russians used a 9M79-1 guided single-stage solid-fuel rocket with a cartridge charge, which is known as “Point-U”, for the attack.
