On the night of April 19, Russian drones attacked Chernihiv, killing a 16-year-old boy and injuring four people. The body of the deceased was found during the dismantling of the rubble. The attack caused significant damage in the city, including damage to: a lyceum, private homes, an industrial facility, and a medical facility.
The medical facility that was damaged during the attack was destroyed back in 2022. Fires broke out at the sites of the hits, which have already been extinguished. All necessary services are involved in eliminating the consequences of the attack. Vyacheslav Chaus, head of the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, said:
“Significant destruction in the city. A lyceum and private houses were damaged. There were hits on the territory of an industrial facility, as well as one of the medical facilities, which was not working and was actually destroyed by the Russians in 2022.”
This attack highlights the continuation of hostilities and the humanitarian consequences of the conflict for the civilian population in Ukraine. The death of a young man and the injuries of other citizens indicate the high risk faced by civilians in conflict zones. The importance of a rapid response by rescue services also emphasizes the need to ensure the safety and support of those affected by military operations.
