
Overnight into September 30, Russian forces launched a massive missile and drone attack on Kyiv and the Kyiv region. During one of the attack waves, up to 20 missiles of various types were fired at the capital and the surrounding area.
At approximately 02:47, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine warned of a threat involving ballistic weapons. Shortly thereafter, a series of powerful explosions rocked Kyiv. Simultaneously, the capital came under attack by drones, including jet-powered models.
Energy infrastructure in Kyiv and the region was a primary target of the attack. Local social media channels reported strikes on electricity distribution facilities. Following the attack, power outages occurred in parts of the capital and the region, and there were also reports of water supply issues.
The impact of the strikes was recorded in several districts of Kyiv. Private homes caught fire in the Sviatoshynskyi district, a warehouse burned in the Holosiivskyi district, a shop was damaged in the Obolonskyi district, and a fire broke out in a private residence in the Podilskyi district. According to the latest available data, at least four people in the capital were injured.
The Kyiv region was also struck. Damage to infrastructure facilities was recorded in the Buchanskyi, Vyshhorodskyi, and Obukhivskyi districts. Centrenergo previously reported that generating equipment at the Trypillia Thermal Power Plant in the Obukhiv district was damaged following a Russian strike.
