Russia seeks to destroy as many Ukrainians as possible in the temporarily occupied territories. Pavlo Lysyanskyi, a human rights activist and director of the Institute for Strategic Research and Security, stated this on April 26: “I know that the Russians have a clear intention to destroy as many Ukrainians as possible in the temporarily occupied territories, and to disband or send some of the remaining ones to remote regions of Russia in order for there to be no citizens of Ukraine in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, so that such a phenomenon simply does not exist.”
The human rights defender emphasized that Russia continues the forced mobilization of Ukrainians in the temporarily occupied territories.
“Perhaps it is not so large-scale, but in certain areas and on certain days they still practice it. There are whole special units of the military police and the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, which, together with the Russian Guard, are engaged in this direction… They will be used for their own purposes, and will be thrown into the epicenter of hostilities so that as many as possible die. This is an unpopular thesis, but it is true. This is the intention of the Russians, and it is true,” Pavlo Lysyanskyi summed up.
