
The Russian army attacked a commercial vessel under the flag of the Republic of Togo in the Odesa region with a drone. Five crew members were killed and 12 others were injured as a result of the strike.
According to the head of the Odesa regional military administration, Oleg Kiper, the attack damaged port infrastructure and a fire broke out on a moored commercial vessel carrying mineral fertilizers.
Initially, three people were reported dead and five injured, but during the fire extinguishing, rescuers discovered the bodies of two more dead sailors.
Later, it became known that the total number of victims had increased to 12 people. All the dead and injured are members of the ship’s crew.
Seven of the injured were hospitalized, their condition is assessed by doctors as moderate. Five more received outpatient medical care.
Emergency services and law enforcement officers continue to work at the scene, documenting the consequences of another war crime by the Russian Federation.
The attack was another act of terror directed against civilian shipping and global food security. He stressed that those responsible for this crime will be held accountable.
