One of the targets of the Russian army’s missile attack on the morning of March 7 was gas facilities in Ukraine. Production facilities that ensure gas production were damaged.
This was reported to the press service of the national joint-stock company Naftogaz of Ukraine.
“This is the seventeenth combined attack on the gas transportation infrastructure facilities of the Naftogaz Group. Production facilities that ensure gas production were damaged. Fortunately, there were no casualties,” the message says.
According to the press service, the liquidation of the consequences of the shelling and the assessment of the damage are ongoing.
“The Naftogaz Group is taking all necessary measures to restore the operation of the facilities that were attacked by the Russians. We are doing and will do everything possible to ensure that the country has gas,” said Roman Chumak, head of Naftogaz.
Russia launched a missile and drone strike on Ukraine on March 7. According to Ukrainian Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko, the energy and gas infrastructure in various regions of Ukraine was subjected to massive missile and drone attacks.
It is known that a gas pipeline was damaged in the Myrhorod district of the Poltava region.
Gas production in Ukraine fell by 40% after the Russian missile strikes. Because of this, Naftogaz decided to import about 800 million cubic meters of gas from Europe.
The reduction in production has led to the fact that Ukraine will have to import about 3 billion cubic meters this year.
Gas reserves in storage facilities have decreased, but the level is not critical.
