Recently, Kostyantynivka has been under regular shelling by the russians. Hurricanes and S-300 missiles are hitting the city, and the police and the administration are advising residents to evacuate the settlement as soon as possible.
According to Oleksiy Roslov, head of the military-civilian administration of Kostyantynivka, more than 42,000 people remain in the city, including 944 children. In particular, the evacuation is ongoing. Both volunteers and the city authorities help to leave every day. The intensity of evacuation depends on the intensity of shelling. As a result, a very different number of people leave – sometimes 3 people, and sometimes half a hundred. By the way, according to Roslov’s information, the largest departure was 67 people per day.
As in other settlements, the so-called “returns” can be observed here – when people first evacuate and then return to their place. They usually explain that they have run out of money, have problems finding housing, or are not satisfied with the home they have already found. There are also cases when people “missed home” and therefore go back to Kostyantynivka. In particular, ironically, some of them are later evacuated again, and some remain in the city.
However, in Kostyantynivka, everything works in a “shortened” version. Utility workers are on site, approximately 40% of stores also continue to operate. Instead, metallurgical enterprises relocated to safer regions.
Nevertheless, the head of the administration emphasizes the importance of evacuation and notes that the situation is becoming increasingly tense, and the sounds of artillery can be heard in the city almost every day.
“Medics are also on duty, we are provided with medicines, autonomous power sources have been made, and we also have water from wells. In case of danger or shelling, we can work autonomously. However, despite that, the city is very restless, today we were lucky that it was quiet, but every day the city is stormed. Moreover, now is such a time that I cannot predict what will happen in 5 minutes – whether we will be shelled or not. It should be understood that artillery is already reaching the city, therefore, it is now dangerous in any corner of the community,” said the head of the military-civilian administration, Roslov.
