Russian attack on a geriatric boarding house in Sumy: currently 1 dead, 12 injured

On September 19, 2024, the Russians struck a geriatric boarding house in Sumy. As a result of the attack, one person died in hospital, 12 others were injured. This was reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

According to the State Emergency Service, the technical and fifth floors of the five-story boarding house building were partially destroyed. 147 people were evacuated from the building. There are no people under the rubble.

The head of the Sumy regional military administration, Volodymyr Artyukh, said that some of the wounded were in serious condition and were hospitalized. According to him, 221 elderly people lived in the boarding house.

5 buses were involved in the evacuation and assistance work, including 2 from the State Emergency Service. Also involved are 2 medical calculations of the emergency department for transporting patients to the hospital and other boarding houses.
