
In Sumy and on the territory of the Sumy community, Russian drones continue to target civilian objects, posing a threat to people’s lives and damaging infrastructure. On July 9, new drone attacks and their consequences were recorded.
According to the report of the acting mayor of the city, Artem Kobzar, in the Zarechny district of the city, a Russian drone-“Lancet” hit the roof of a multi-storey building. One person was injured as a result of the impact.
The roof of the house and the balcony were also damaged there – the glass was broken, but there was no serious damage.
“Preliminarily, one person was injured. All relevant services are working at the scene,” the report says.
He separately reported on the attack by an FPV drone, from which the headman of Stetskivka, Yuriy Lysenko, was injured. He was wounded and is in hospital in satisfactory condition, doctors are providing him with assistance. The company car was also damaged.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine is working to strengthen the air defense of the Sumy region against the backdrop of increasing attacks from the Russian Federation. The head of the department, Mykhailo Fedorov, and the deputy commander of the Air Force, Pavlo Lazar, visited the region for this purpose. According to them, since the beginning of 2026, more than 12 thousand attacks have been carried out in the region – missile strikes, bombs, drones and FPV drones. As a result, 122 civilians were killed, more than 1,200 were injured, including children. More than 2,600 buildings and infrastructure were damaged and destroyed.
