Russian court sentences Mariupol resident to 13 years in prison

A Russian court has sentenced 25-year-old Mariupol resident Angelina Skiba. The woman was sentenced to 13 years in prison in a penal colony, accused of so-called “financing terrorism” and “high treason.”

The Mariupol City Council reported this. According to the Russian court, the woman allegedly transferred funds to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Azov regiment. Angelina’s husband served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and participated in the defense of Mariupol in 2022.

After the Ukrainian military withdrew from the territory of the Azovstal plant, he was taken into Russian captivity. Later, it became known that the soldier died in a pre-trial detention center in the Volgograd region. Angelina Skiba herself was detained by Russian security forces in August 2025 at the border in the Pskov region. Since then, she has been in custody in Pskov and is participating in court hearings via video link.
