A drone hit an IAEA official car that was heading to the occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP. This was reported by the agency’s director general, Rafael Grossi, and condemned the attack on his employees. But, as always, he did not have the courage to declare that the Russian Federation had attacked.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyі also commented on the incident.
“A Russian FPV drone attacked an IAEA convoy, whose task is to ensure nuclear safety around the world. The strike was carried out on one of the vehicles in the convoy. Fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries.
This attack clearly demonstrated how Russia views everything related to international law, international institutions and security. The Russians could not have been unaware of their goal. They knew exactly what they were doing, and they acted deliberately,” his message says.
The head of state emphasized that the attack requires a clear and decisive response from both the IAEA and other international partners. Silence or inaction will only encourage further crimes.
As is known, the Zaporizhzhia NPP, occupied by the Russians, was on the verge of a blackout three times in November due to damage to external power lines connecting it to the Ukrainian power system.
Earlier, the IAEA reported on the incident at the Zaporizhzhia NPP. A microcrack was discovered in the pipeline of the cooling pump support system at reactor No. 1.
