Rescuers of the State Emergency Service continue to eliminate the consequences of the Russian drone strike on the Chernobyl NPP. Currently, the radiation background does not exceed the permissible values.
This was reported by the head of the State Emergency Service, Andriy Danyk.
“No burning of the insulation is observed, climbers are carrying out work on partially opening the shelter structures and filling the voids with fire extinguishing substances,” he noted.
It is added that the work of the State Emergency Service specialists is complicated by sub-zero temperatures, snow and icing of the structure. Rescuers are working directly outside the protective structure – at an altitude of over 100 meters.
“The air condition is constantly monitored. The radiation background at the industrial site near the Chernobyl NPP does not exceed the permissible values,” the department concluded.
