On the night of March 2, Russian occupiers attacked a multi-story building in Zaporizhzhia, reported the secretary of the Zaporizhzhia city council, acting chairman Anatoly Kurtev.

“Damned racist monsters again insidiously attacked Zaporizhzhia at night. According to preliminary information, as a result of an enemy flight in one of the districts of the city, a multi-story residential building was destroyed. Russia is a terrorist country,” Kurtev wrote.

Zaporizhzhia regional military administration specified that the occupiers probably used S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems. The shell destroyed three floors of the building.

Currently, the information about the victims is being clarified.

In Zaporizhzhia, on the night of March 2, air alarms were announced several times, the last one, according to Kurtev, lasted from 1:33 a.m. to 2:20 a.m.

After a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Russian troops captured part of the Zaporizhzhia region.

The Russians were unable to capture Zaporizhzhia itself, but it and other cities in the region are regularly shelled.

For attacks on Zaporizhzhia, the occupiers often use S-300 systems designed to attack aerial targets. The ability of the Ukrainian air defense system to shoot down such missiles is limited, the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported.

The secretary of the Zaporizhzhia City Council Anatoly Kurtev said that two people were killed as a result of the shelling of a residential building in Zaporizhzhia.

“Rashists are an army of scum that can only shell a sleeping city and terrorize peaceful people. They will never be forgiven for this,” Kurtev said.

At the same time, the State Emergency Service confirmed the death of one person, 8 people were rescued, 20 were evacuated.

On the night of March 2, Russian invaders hit a high-rise building in Zaporizhzhia. The Zaporizhzhia regional military administration noted that the strike was probably carried out from the S-300 air defense system.

The State Emergency Service reports that as of 8 a.m., 11 people have been rescued. At the site of the rocket attack, 5 tents were set up for heating and feeding the victims, giving out clothes and basic necessities.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyi has already commented on the shelling of the residential building: “The terrorist state wants to turn every day for our people into a day of terror. But evil will not reign on our land. We will drive out all the occupiers, and they will definitely be responsible for everything.”

The terrorist state cynically attacked the peaceful citizens of Zaporizhzhia who were sleeping in their homes that night. As a result of an insidious rocket attack, a 5-story residential building in the regional center was partially destroyed.

The 3rd, 4th, and 5th floors were destroyed. Unfortunately, there are dead and injured. According to various sources, two or three people died.

Five people were taken to the hospital. 20 were injured.

All emergency services are on site. 11 people were rescued by the State Emergency Service.

Psychologists of the State Emergency Service, volunteers of the Red Cross Society of Ukraine, and doctors are currently working with the victims.
