Russian representatives claim that they have taken 700,000 children out of Ukraine

19,500 deported children are officially recorded in Ukraine.

The Russian side officially declares that there are more than 700,000 Ukrainian children on the territory of the Russian Federation. In Ukraine, the fact of export of more than 19.5 thousand was officially confirmed. This was stated by the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, during the international conference on human rights “Freedom or Fear”.

“We are trying to confirm these numbers in any way possible. I am well aware that this number will grow, because there will be many more children. But this is a long process – we need to record the fact of illegal deportation, enter it in our registers, carry out the entire legal procedure for each deported child, and so on,” the ombudsman said.

According to Lubinets, most of the deportees are children who ended up in the temporarily occupied territories at the beginning of the full-scale invasion. There is no exact information on the number of children taken out in the regions, he said.

Ukrainian law enforcement officers are aware of more than 500 cases of deportation of children from the occupied territories of Kharkiv Region.
