Russian shelling caused 1.4 billion hryvnias of damage to the environment of Zaporizhzhia in a month

In April 2026, the damage to the environment of Zaporizhzhia due to Russian aggression exceeded 1.4 billion hryvnias. This was reported in the city council with reference to data from the State Environmental Inspectorate of the Southern District.

According to the inspectorate’s calculations, the main losses are related to land resources: land contamination – UAH 1,431,913,775.86; soil contamination – UAH 1,098,056.77.

Separately, damage to the nature reserve fund was recorded – UAH 7,575,024.60.

Damage to atmospheric air was not calculated for this period. Data collection for further assessment is currently underway.
