Russian shelling knocks out power to a number of settlements in Kharkiv region

On January 26, Russian troops launched another missile strike on critical infrastructure in the Kharkiv region, causing large-scale emergency power outages in a number of settlements.

Chuguev chairman Galina Minaeva confirmed the city’s power outage and said that specialized services are currently assessing the extent of damage in order to begin restoration work. At the same time, Zlatopol chairman Mykola Baksheyev announced the critical situation in the power grid, noting that due to damage to the main lines, the city has switched to an emergency resource saving mode.

To support life during the blackout, local authorities have activated all available reserve capacities and generators. In Zlatopol, water supply is currently provided by autonomous power sources, however, due to limited fuel resources, residents have been warned about a possible shutdown of water supply after 10:00 PM in the event of a delay in network repairs. Boiler cities continue to operate uninterruptedly thanks to alternative power supply, which allows them to keep their homes warm despite external attacks. Russia is counting on the complete exhaustion of the region’s municipal services, but the preparedness of communities to work in conditions of energy terror allows them to maintain control over the situation.

Due to the significant load on communication towers and the lack of centralized power supply in the region, there is a significant deterioration in the quality of mobile Internet and voice calls. The Russian Federation continues the tactic of double strikes on energy and logistics, trying to isolate frontline cities from the information space and basic services. While energy workers work under the threat of repeated shelling, residents are urged to use invulnerability points to charge devices and communicate with relatives. The coordinated work of municipal services in the Kharkiv region is currently a key factor in countering the enemy’s plans to create a humanitarian crisis in the east of the country.

On the evening of January 26, the Russian army attacked Kharkiv and settlements in the region with ballistic missiles, which led to large-scale power outages and destruction of civilian objects.
