Russian strikes on Odesa region damage apartment building and energy facility

One person was injured in a Russian drone strike on a residential building in the suburbs of Odesa. On the night of January 19, the Russian army attacked the region with attack drones. The Russians also shelled an energy facility in Odesa itself, leaving part of the city without electricity.

On the ground are shards of glass, fragments of walls and pieces of furniture. This is what the area near the apartment building damaged by the Russian drone strike looks like. Cars parked nearby were also seriously damaged.

A resident of the damaged apartment building, Marmen, was in his apartment during the drone attack. When he heard the sound of an explosion, he went down and went outside.

We went down – everything was broken, everything was lying around. Nothing new, everywhere, just like with people, and it has been with us for four years,” he says.

The Russian drone crashed into the highest, 25th floor, and broke through the wall. According to residents of a neighboring apartment, no one was in the room where the epicenter of the impact fell during the explosion. In addition, the apartments on the floor below were damaged.

At about 01:30, we probably heard the “Shahed” fall. Suddenly this sound appeared, we heard an explosion. We were still at home, ran outside in slippers, although we took our jackets with us. We went down to the basement and waited there for the explosion to stop,” recalls Volodymyr, a resident of the damaged building.

According to the Odesa Regional Prosecutor’s Office, one person was injured as a result of the Russian attack on the residential high-rise building, a 33-year-old man. He was provided with medical assistance.

At first we didn’t even understand what had happened. Either it was an “arrival”, or something exploded, because you could only see how the frame was blown away by the blast wave. I live on the 12th floor. When the explosion occurred, glass flew all over the house, falling like rain,” says Volodymyr.

Also, due to the Russian attack on the night of January 19, an energy facility suffered from destruction. More than 30 thousand subscribers were left without electricity.

The Russian army attacks energy facilities in the Odesa region literally every day. Earlier, on the night of January 18, an energy facility in the south of the Odesa region was damaged.
