On the morning of May 3, Russian troops made the massive shelling of the city of Kherson – from which Russian forces withdrew November 2022 – and the region’s villages. This was reported by the the Kherson region prosecutor’s office.
13 of the victims were killed in the city of Kherson, 4 of the victims were killed in the Kherson region. 22 civilians were wounded, including 2 children. Most of the people were killed and wounded in a strike on Kherson’s only working hypermarket.
Also employees of a power engineering team were killed by shelling between the nearby villages of Stepanivka and Muzykivka. And a man died as a result of shelling in Tokarivka. It happened in the yard of his own house.
The Russian army also shelled Mykhailivka, Havrylivka, and Tyaginka, damaging the homes of local residents.
We remind you that Kherson was captured by Russian troops last year in the first days of the invasion and remained under Russian occupation until November 2022.
Russian forces withdrew from the city, crossing to the eastern side of the Dnipro River which now delineates part of the front line in southern Ukraine. Now the city of Kherson lies near the frontline in southern Ukraine.
