
On May 5, Russian troops carried out an airstrike on the center of Kramatorsk in the Donetsk region. At least five people were killed in the attack, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyі said.
“A rescue operation is underway in Kramatorsk in the Donetsk region at the site of the Russian airstrike. They hit the center of the city, people,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyі said. The president added that the number of victims of this attack may increase.
As the National Police of Ukraine later clarified, among the dead were a 65-year-old man and four women: 47, 63, 67, 68 years old. At least 12 more people were injured.
According to the head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, Vadym Filashkin, at around 5:00 p.m., Russian troops dropped three high-explosive air bombs on the center of Kramatorsk.
The city has suffered significant damage, with bombs hitting near apartment buildings. The fire engulfed the street and cars parked on it, police said. Police units, the State Emergency Service, as well as municipal and medical services are working at the scene. As Filashkin noted, the wounded are being provided with qualified assistance, and residential buildings are being examined to identify possible victims and dead. The extent of the damage is also being determined.
