On October 14, Russian troops attacked the port infrastructure of Odesa. As a result of the attack, one person was killed and eight others were injured, said Oleksiy Kuleba, Deputy Prime Minister for the Reconstruction of Ukraine, Minister of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine.
As the head of Odesa regional military administration Oleg Kiper specified, all the victims were hospitalized, two of them are in serious condition. “Medics are providing all the necessary assistance. All the injured and the deceased are workers of the port infrastructure, citizens of Ukraine,” Oleg Kiper said.
Two vessels and infrastructure were damaged
In addition, as a result of the shelling, two civilian vessels were damaged – the Palau-flagged dry cargo ship OPTIMA, which was already damaged by ballistic shelling a week ago, and the Belizean-flagged NS Moon.
Also, during the attack, a grain warehouse, cargo cranes, warehouses, machinery, buildings of the Sea Ports Administration branch, and cars were damaged, Kuleba added.
“The Russians are once again reporting on supposedly hitting military targets. In reality, the targets are the same: civilian ships, grain warehouses, terminals. The infrastructure thanks to which we ensure the food security of the world, which Russia is once again putting at risk, leveling all the norms of the international rights,” he emphasized.
The Odesa Regional Prosecutor’s Office has initiated criminal proceedings for violation of the laws and customs of war.
