On June 8, Russian troops once again shelled the regional center of Kherson, where at this very time the evacuation of the population from the flooded areas caused by the Russians’ detonation of the Kakhovskaya HPP is underway: one person is known to have died. The chief rabbi of Ukraine, Moshe Asman, also came under Russian attack.

The chief rabbi said that he helped evacuate residents of settlements whose houses were flooded due to the Russians blowing up the Kakhovskaya HPP.

In turn, the prosecutors report that according to the investigation, on June 8, the Russian military shelled the regional center and settlements in the Kherson district.
The prosecutor’s office said that a civilian died in the city due to targeted strikes by Russian troops during evacuation measures. Two more people were injured.

The head of the regional military administration Oleksandr Prokudin: “Russian troops are not allowing the Kherson region to recover after the explosion of the Kakhovskaya HPP. They shelled Kherson when the evacuation of civilians was ongoing in the city. … 9 people were injured in Kherson. Doctors are providing the necessary assistance to all the wounded.
Among the wounded are two employees of the State Emergency Service, a policeman, a doctor and a volunteer from Germany.”
In addition, as emphasized by the prosecutor’s office, four local residents were injured in one of the villages due to shelling.

Under the procedural leadership of the Kherson and Oleshkiv District Prosecutor’s Offices, a pre-trial investigation was started in criminal proceedings on the fact of violation of the laws and customs of war.
It is worth noting that such attacks by the Russian army took place after the Russians blew up the Kakhovskaya HPP.
On the night of June 6, Russian troops blew up the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station, located a few kilometers from the temporarily occupied city of Nova Kakhovka, Kherson region.
In Oleshki and nearby settlements, which are now flooded, nine people are already known to have died.

Two people, including a pregnant woman, were killed as a result of shelling by Russian troops at the evacuation point in Goliya Prystan, two more people were wounded.
In the Mykolaiv region, a person also died due to flooding after the explosion of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station.
