Kherson region continues to be subjected to massive shelling with MLRS, artillery and kamikaze drones, the Russians are hunting civilians and repairmen. Yuriy Sobolevskyі, the first deputy head of the Kherson regional council, spoke about the situation in the region.
According to him, on October 27, one person was killed as a result of the attacks, six more were injured (five from drones). On October 28, one person was killed and one was injured as a result of artillery shelling. The wounded mainly have concussions, explosive injuries and shrapnel wounds, but there are also serious cases among them.
The official noted that the security situation remains extremely difficult – Russian troops continue to shell both Kherson and surrounding settlements.
“Russian troops continue to shell Kherson and other settlements both day and night. They use MLRS, that is, unguided weapons. They operate in residential areas, private and multi-storey buildings,” he said.
Sobolevskyі emphasized that the Russians are actively using drones to attack civilians.
“This is simply terrorizing the civilian population. First, this is hunting civilians with the help of drones… They are dropping explosives on civilian transport, on public transport, simply on people who are in the open space,” he said.
According to him, medical institutions in the region are working in an intensified mode and are providing all necessary assistance to the victims.
Despite the shelling, most residents of the region are provided with electricity, gas and water. However, in some areas, in particular on Korabel Island, restoration work is complicated – it is dangerous for repair crews to go to the lines due to the risk of shelling. “The occupation administration and the military openly declare that such repair crews are ‘legitimate targets’ for them, so it is very difficult to carry out infrastructure restoration work,” Sobolevskyі added.
