On February 7, the Russians launched artillery strikes on the territory of the Kherson CHPP. At least five hits were recorded, according to the national joint-stock company Naftogaz Ukraine.
This is the fourth attack on the Kherson CHPP since early February. Russia continues targeted shelling of civilian energy infrastructure, trying to complicate the restoration of heat supply facilities.
“We are coordinating actions with local authorities and are working on all possible options for providing heat,” said Serhiy Koretsky, chairman of the board of the national joint-stock company Naftogaz of Ukraine.
In early December 2025, the Russians critically shelled the Kherson CHPP. It was then that several tens of thousands of subscribers were left without heat.
Then, in December and January, the Russians continued the shelling. In January 2026, Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, noted that the only way out for Kherson residents in a difficult winter without a CHP is mobile boiler houses. Mobile boiler houses have not yet appeared in Kherson, despite very severe frosts under shelling.
