Russians damaged gas pipelines in two regions

As a result of Russian shelling, gas pipelines were damaged in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy.

“In the Sumy and Kharkiv regions, gas pipelines were damaged due to shelling – 30 subscribers were left without gas supply,” the message says.

In addition, in Chernihiv Region, 848 subscribers in five settlements were simultaneously disconnected as a result of shelling.

As the Ministry of Energy added, on May 19, consumers’ needs were covered by their own generation, imports, and emergency assistance from Romania, Poland, and Slovakia. At the same time, during the day, Ukraine provided emergency aid to Poland – it received surplus electricity from the neighboring country’s power system.

On Monday, May 20, at night and in the morning, Ukraine already provided emergency electricity supplies from Romania, Slovakia and Poland.

Earlier, Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko reported that the Ukrainian energy system lost 8 GW of capacity due to the latest massive Russian shelling. According to him, it will be difficult to maintain the power system without consumer restrictions in winter. It also allows for difficulties with the supply of electricity in the summer.

Massive Russian attacks on energy facilities resumed on March 22. In particular, the Burshtynska, Ladyzhynska, Zmiivska, Trypilska TPPs, as well as two hydroelectric power stations, were destroyed.
