Russian soldiers have executed four Ukrainian prisoners of war near the village of Pyatikhatki in Zaporizhzhia region.
This is reported by The Associated Press.
The video released by the agency shows Ukrainian fighters emerging from a destroyed building with their hands raised – and at this moment the Russian military opens fire on them from behind.
Experts from the Information Resilience Center in London, which specializes in visual investigations, confirmed the authenticity of the video. One of the center’s analysts, Rollo Collins, commented:
“Of all the executions we have seen since the end of 2023, this is one of the most striking cases. This is not a typical combat killing. This is an unlawful act.”
Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Georgy Tykhyi said that such crimes have become systemic in the Russian army:
“Russian troops are executing four Ukrainian prisoners of war after they surrendered. Such executions have become systemic, but each of them is shocking in its cruelty. They also demonstrate that the Russian army lacks elementary discipline, because disciplined armies do not execute prisoners of war – this contradicts military logic.” According to him, this crime should be investigated by the International Criminal Court, and the perpetrators brought to justice.
