On April 9, Russian troops shelled a fire and rescue unit in Mykolaivka, Donetsk region. As a result of the strike, the building suffered significant damage, but there were no casualties among the personnel.
The State Emergency Service of Ukraine published information about the consequences of the shelling. The agency specified that the strike caused the destruction of the unit’s infrastructure and provided details of the damage.
“The blast wave damaged the building’s facade, window and door blocks, suspended ceiling, and garage entrance gate,” the rescuers noted.
The shelling occurred in Mykolaivka, where one of the region’s fire and rescue units is located. According to the State Emergency Service, the strike was powerful enough to damage not only the exterior of the building, but also its interior elements. The blast wave hit the garage premises where the equipment is stored.
The service emphasized that no one among the personnel was injured. And this is probably key against the backdrop of the destruction. Rescuers were on site at the time of the impact, but there were no injuries.
The facade of the building and window blocks suffered the most damage. Part of the suspended ceiling was also destroyed, the garage entrance gate and two garage boxes were damaged. All this complicates the work of the unit, because this is where the equipment for field trips is based.
According to preliminary data, the building structures withstood the test, but require repair. The consequences of the impact are still being clarified, but it is already clear that restoration will take time.
