Russians hit the railway bridge over the Dnieper River: train traffic in Ukraine paralyzed

The Russians hit the bridge over the Dnieper in Kremenchug. Currently, Ukrzaliznytsia specialists are assessing the extent of the damage to the facility. The bridge is currently not passable. Dozens of explosions were heard in the city itself.

“During the blocking of the bridge, all necessary measures are being taken to ensure life on both banks of the city. Algorithms for the work of the medical sector, ambulance, maternity hospitals, emergency response services and utility companies have already been worked out,” said Chairman Vitaliy Maletskyi.

The chairman added that the bridge is on the balance sheet of Ukrzaliznytsia, so experts’ conclusions on the scale of the destruction and the possibility of its further operation are now awaited.

Due to the cutting of this strategic highway, the movement of dozens of trains in Ukraine has been paralyzed. Ukrzaliznytsia has warned of train delays in the coming days. In addition, a number of trains will follow a changed route.

Ukrzaliznytsia has confirmed damage to the railway infrastructure in the Poltava region due to a massive Russian strike on the night of September 7 and has warned of a change in the route of a number of trains.

As reported by the chairman of the board of Ukrzaliznytsia JSC Oleksandr Pertsovsky, a number of trains will follow a changed route.

“We will transport some passengers by buses in cooperation with the regional military administration and local authorities,” he added.

“In the coming days, while the multi-component repair continues, there will definitely be train delays in the region related to the detour of the affected area. We will also use buses for delivery to/from Kremenchuk from the nearest available stations,” Ukrzaliznytsia representatives emphasized. They added that in addition, the shelling damaged a suburban rolling stock in Kremenchuk, instead of which a reserve one has already been deployed on the routes. However, some electric trains will not run on 07.09.2025 due to infrastructure restoration work.
