At around 10 a.m. on March 9, the Russians attacked the Khortytskyi district of Zaporizhzhia. A truck traveling along the district’s central artery, the Khortytskyi highway, was hit. Fortunately, the 55-year-old driver was not injured.
This was reported by the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov: “Russians attacked Zaporizhzhia. As a result of the attack, a truck is on fire. Fortunately, the 55-year-old truck driver was not injured.”
The Khortytskyi district administration also confirmed information about the incident: “A Russian attack was recorded again in the Khortytskyi district. The truck was hit; fortunately, the driver was not injured.”
The head of the Khortytskyi district state administration, Serhiy Ilchenko, clarified the circumstances of the attack. According to him, at about 9:50 a.m., the Russian Federation military hit a car with an unmanned aerial vehicle right on the central street.
There were no military facilities near the attack site – instead, there were nine-story residential buildings. The residents of nearby buildings had their windows blown out by the blast wave. Utilities quickly began to close the holes with OSB sheets.
Therefore, rescuers from the State Emergency Service, the National Police of Ukraine, and the district administration immediately began work at the scene. It is also noted that utilities are restoring lighting and clearing the roadway.
Currently, traffic on the Khortytskyі highway is complicated. Drivers are recommended to bypass this section.
According to Serhiy Ilchenko, the restriction is temporary, and the services are already working to restore normal traffic as soon as possible.
