
On January 18 and 19, Russian troops carried out massive strikes on Chernihiv region, the main targets were energy infrastructure facilities and civilian buildings.
This was reported by the head of the Chernihiv regional military administration Vyacheslav Chaus and “Chernihivoblenergo”.
According to the head of the region, hits by “geranium” type strike drones were recorded in Kholmyn, Novgorod-Siversky, Mensky and Koryukiv communities.
As a result of the attacks, about a hundred settlements were left without electricity. The most difficult situation was in the northern communities of the region, where emergency and restoration work is ongoing.
Also, according to him, in the city of Mena, one of the drones hit the territory of an enterprise, a fire broke out on the spot.
In addition, on the afternoon of January 18, a strike drone attacked a cultural center in Snovsk. The building’s roof, windows, doors, and a sports hall where children were exercising were damaged.
“A 45-year-old woman was injured as a result of the attack. She is currently under medical supervision,” Chaus noted.
In total, 48 shelling and 91 explosions were recorded in the region on January 18. At the same time, during the week, Ukrainian defenders destroyed 222 strike drones in the sky over Chernihiv region.
At the same time, energy experts said that on the night of January 19, Russian troops attacked five energy facilities in Chernihiv region. As a result, tens of thousands of consumers were left without electricity.
“Energy experts are working on restoration, but due to the security situation, this process may be delayed,” Chernihivoblenergo specialists noted.
The civilian infrastructure of Semenivka was also hit. The head of the Novgorod-Siversky district military administration, Alexander Seliverstov, reported that Russian troops launched Geran and Molniya UAVs at least three times.
In the afternoon of January 19, the Russians continued to strike at the civilian infrastructure of Semenivtsi – at least two more attacks using Geran attack UAVs and an FPV drone were recorded there.
In total, on January 19, as of 16:00, Seliverstov reported five attacks by various types of attack UAVs on Semenivtsi.
