Russians open first “Yunarmiya class” for fifth-graders in Mariupol school

On the basis of school No. 41, the Russians have recruited 17 children into the military movement Yunarmiya. The students will be taught drills and weapons for service in the Russian army.

The Russian administration continues its policy of militarization of Ukrainian children in the temporarily occupied territories. According to the Mariupol City Council, the first specialized class of the military movement Yunarmiya in the so-called “DPR” has been created on the basis of local school No. 41, to which 17 fifth-graders have been recruited.

Instead of standard training, the children will undergo drills, tactical medicine, and enhanced “patriotic education.” The leadership of the occupation institution does not hide the true purpose of such innovations – the preparation of a future mobilization resource for the Russian army.

The school principal openly stated: “We strive to educate future defenders of the Russian Federation,” effectively confirming the forced ideological indoctrination of minors.

The Mariupol City Hall emphasizes that such centers are already operating in schools No. 26 and No. 7.

In 2025, the so-called “administration” of the city obliged all educational institutions to cooperate with the paramilitary movement “Yunarmiya.” Children are taught how to handle weapons, held military marches and ceremonies of the oath of allegiance to Russia, presenting service in the aggressor’s army as the only promising path to development.
