Russians sentence 19-year-old Zaporizhzhia region resident to imprisonment

The Southern district military court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced 19-year-old resident of the occupied Zaporizhzhia Region Vitaly Trofimchuk to 5 years and 6 months in a general regime colony. He was found guilty of calls for terrorism and extremism through comments on Telegram.

Russian security forces recognized his statements as calls for terrorism.

In court, Trofimchuk stated that he wrote comments based on emotions and did not think about the possible consequences. He explained his condition by the fact that he had been watching videos of the killing of prisoners and attacks on peaceful cities for a long time.

Vitaly Trofimchuk lost his parents at an early age, lived with his grandmother and uncle in the village of Velyka Belozerka, Zaporizhzhia Region, and received a disability pension due to congenital HIV infection.
