Russians sentenced 23-year-old resident of Chaplynka to 5.5 years in prison for publications about the Russian army

A Russian court in the Left Bank of the Kherson region sentenced a 23-year-old resident of Chaplynka to 5 years and 6 months in prison on charges of spreading allegedly “false information” about the Russian army.

This was reported by the Russian-controlled prosecutor’s office of the Kherson region.

According to the version of Russian security forces, from August to September 2023, the girl, while staying at home in Chaplynka, published information on the Internet about the actions of the Russian Armed Forces.

The Russian investigation called this information “knowingly false,” and the motive for the publications was allegedly “national and political hatred.”

At the same time, the Russian prosecutor’s office does not report what exactly the resident of Chaplynka published and what specific information about the Russian military became the basis for criminal prosecution.

The so-called Chaplynka Interdistrict Court found her guilty under point “d” of part 2 of article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

In addition to 5.5 years in a general regime colony, the woman was banned from administering websites and activities related to the dissemination of information via the Internet for two years.

Before the verdict was announced, she was under a non-departure bond. After the decision of the Russian court, the resident of Chaplynka was taken into custody directly in the courtroom.

Chaplynka has been under Russian occupation since 2022.
