On the morning of December 10, Russian troops struck again at the central part of Kherson. As a result of the shelling, one person died, two more were wounded.
This was reported by the first deputy head of the Kherson regional council, Yuriy Sobolevsky.
He noted that the shelling had been going on since night, and in the morning the enemy began massive artillery fire on residential areas and humanitarian infrastructure of the city. Residential buildings, private property and business facilities, in particular a store, as well as one of the museums, were damaged. The shelling of the city center continues, so the data on the number of victims is being clarified.
“The shelling does not stop and they are hitting exclusively humanitarian infrastructure, residential buildings.
He emphasized that the Russians are systematically hitting civilian infrastructure, using terror tactics against civilians. The situation is especially difficult near the Dnieper River, where the Russians have the ability to cover settlements with dense fire.
“They are actually continuing these terrorist tactics in order to stop life in communities as much as possible. 20–30 km from the Dnipro, where they have the opportunity to work closely, they use all their capabilities,” he said.
The situation with critical infrastructure remains difficult: after massive strikes on the Kherson CHP, there is no heating in the city, and there are no forecasts for the restoration of the plant’s operation yet.
“The situation there is very difficult, there are no forecasts for the restoration of its operation now,” Sobolevsky added.
According to him, most subscribers have electricity supply, water supply is at a satisfactory level, but significant problems with gas remain: there is a lot of damage, and repair crews are under constant threat of attack.
“They are simply hunting for repair crews, for employees of energy companies, utility services. They are doing their utmost to prevent the restoration of the damage that remains after the shelling,” Sobolevsky emphasized.
