On the evening of January 16, a strike by a Russian Molniya drone was recorded in the Slobidsky district of Kharkiv, which resulted in casualties among the civilian population. Information about this was provided by the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleg Synegubov.
According to Synegubov, initially medical assistance was provided to three victims. Later, he clarified that two men and a woman were hospitalized as a result of the drone strike.
“According to preliminary data, the Russians used a Molniya UAV,” the head of the regional military administration noted. As a result of the attack, two cars and a road surface were damaged.
This type of drone was first used by Russian troops in Kharkiv on November 12, 2024. As the spokesman for the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, Dmytro Chubenko, explained at the time, “Molniya” is a new type of weapon, which is distinguished by its simple design and is made of cheap materials.
Earlier, Russian troops carried out an airstrike on the Kyivsky district of Kharkiv, using aerial bombs, which also caused significant destruction.
