
Russia has sentenced a resident of the temporarily occupied Donetsk region to 5 years and 6 months in prison for posts on a Telegram channel supporting the Russian Volunteer Corps.
The decision was made by Russian judge Pavel Gubarev, according to social media posts of the Southern District Military Court of Rostov-on-Don.
The defendant, Oleg T., lives in the village of Andriyivka, Dokuchaevsk community, which has been under occupation since 2014.
Russian security forces said that between April 6 and 9, 2025, the man posted comments on an open Telegram channel calling for “violent actions against the civilian population of Russia.”
The verdict also states that the Ukrainian “gave a positive assessment of the actions of the Russian Volunteer Corps regarding the attack on the Kursk region.”
The Southern District Military Court of Rostov-on-Don found the Ukrainian “guilty” of three episodes provided for in Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“public calls for terrorism”).
The Russian Federation sentenced the man to imprisonment in a general regime colony for a term of 5 years and 6 months. The sentence has not yet entered into force and can be appealed.
