Russians used double-strike tactics to shell energy in Kharkiv region

On the morning of February 24, the Russians attacked the energy sector in the Valkivska community. The Russian army continues to destroy critical infrastructure in the Kharkiv region.

 To do this, the Russians used the tactic of repeated strikes. This was reported by the head of the Kharkiv regional military administration, Oleg Synegubov: “The Russians used double strikes with “shaheeds”: first one strike, after the units of the State Emergency Service and employees of the enterprise began to eliminate the consequences, a second strike was struck with a “shaheed”. Fortunately, there were no casualties, they responded to these signals in time, but again the Russians are using double strikes, and our energy sector is again under their sights”.

Since September 2025, the Russian army has been massively attacking the energy sector of the Kharkiv region, trying to leave the city and communities without light and heat. The Russians damaged the CHP-5, Zmiivska CHP, and substations in Kharkiv. The most severe attack on critical facilities was in February 2026. Then, more than 1,000 apartment buildings in Kharkiv were left without heat.
