Russia’s attack on the Port of Pivdenniy (Southern): environmental damage alone — almost $1.5 million

The State Environmental Inspection has calculated the amount of damage caused by a rocket attack on the oil terminal in the port Pivdenniy (Southern) on April 19.

According to the inspection, as a result of the strike, 10 tanks for storing finished products were destroyed and more than 10,000 tons of vegetable oil were destroyed. In addition, the vegetable oil transshipment terminal and other production equipment of the enterprise were damaged.

State environmental protection inspectors conducted an inspection of the shelling sites to record and calculate the damage caused to the environment.

Thus, it was established that the plot of land was littered with metal debris and combustion products with a total area of more than 500 m², and the amount of damage was almost UAH 37 million.

It was also found that land plots were contaminated with vegetable oil with a total area of more than 3,000 m². The amount of damages amounted to UAH 20.2 million.

In this way, 57.2 million UAH of losses were recorded, which is about $1.46 million.
