Russia has been shelling Reni and Izmail for several weeks in a row, destroying the river ports of Ukraine. In addition, Sumy was under attack – residents of the city heard explosions in the sky.
On the night of September 6-7, the Russian Armed Forces attacked Ukraine with two waves of Shahed kamikaze drones. The previous attack took place on September 6: the enemy aimed at the southern river ports and tried to hit Kyiv. Drones, cruise missiles, and the Iskander ballistic missile were used for the attack. The first reports about the air threat appeared on the network around 22:00 on September 6. It was indicated that a drone attack from the north is possible. In particular, drones were spotted in Sumy Oblast. Around one o’clock in the morning, border residents heard explosions. The Sumy regional military administration claimed that the anti-aircraft defense had worked.
After midnight, it became known about the launch of Shahed kamikaze drones in the southern direction: Odesa was once again under threat.
Monitoring channels warned that the enemy was heading towards Izmaili and Reni — the river ports of Ukraine on the Danube. Two hours after the start, explosions were heard over the region as a result of air defense operations. However, the head of the regional military administration, Oleg Kiper, did not report on the work of the Air Defense Forces.
The military administration and the Air Force have not yet reported the consequences of Russia’s night strike.
Air attacks: details
After the grain agreement was broken, Russia attacks Ukrainian port infrastructure almost every night. First, the Russians destroyed the ports in Odessa and Chornomorsk. Then the focus shifted to river ports on the Danube.
In particular, Reni and Izmail were attacked by kamikaze drones on September 4, 5, and 6. During the attack on September 4, the wreckage of a Russian drone fell on the territory of Romania, a NATO country. Romanian authorities initially denied the incident, but later admitted that they had found the wreckage. Meanwhile, the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces announced immediately after the attack that the Russian UAVs were moving close to the border with Romania — “sliding” along the edge.
For three hours, the Russians shelled the Izmail district of the Odesa region with Shahed drones.
This is the fourth attack on the south of Odesa in the last five days, Oleg Kiper, the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, said.
“One civilian was injured. The driver of the truck received a light leg injury. We wish him a speedy recovery. Liquidation of the consequences is ongoing on the spot. All relevant services are working,” he added.
As a result of a mass attack by kamikaze drones in the Odesa region on the night of Thursday, September 7, the number of injured increased – two truck drivers were injured, the Odesa regional prosecutor’s office informs.
“The Russians attacked port and civil infrastructure facilities in the south of the region… The elevator and administrative buildings were destroyed. A number of private homes were also damaged by the blast wave,” the report said.
Prosecutors started a pre-trial investigation on the fact of violation of the laws and customs of war (Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
On the night of September 7, Russian troops once again attacked the south of Odesa with Shahed-136 attack drones. The massive attack was aimed at the civil infrastructure of the Danube.
In two territorial communities, warehouse and production buildings, equipment of agricultural and industrial enterprises were damaged. There were no reports of casualties.
