In the Vremiv direction in the Volnovakha district, Russian military committed another war crime by shooting four prisoners of war of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office, on December 22, 2024, information about the crime appeared in the Telegram channel. During the artillery shelling, four Ukrainian defenders took refuge in a private house. After being surrounded by the Russians, they left the building and were captured.
Two prisoners were left lying on the ground, two more were taken out onto the road. Later, all four were cynically shot. This crime is a gross violation of the Geneva Conventions.
The pre-trial investigation into the fact of violation of the laws and customs of war, which caused the death of people (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), is being conducted by investigators of the Main Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
Currently, law enforcement officers are conducting investigative actions to establish all the circumstances of the crime and the persons involved.
The Ombudsman of Ukraine Dmytro Lubinets informed the UN and the ICRC about a new case of the execution of five Ukrainian prisoners of war. The 110th separate mechanized brigade released a video of the crime committed by Russian soldiers.
