Shooting of Ukrainian prisoners of war: Oleksandr Kovalenko reacted to another crime by the Russians

According to the expert, the Russians are trying to intimidate Ukrainian defenders and provoke them to take revenge.

Russians shot Ukrainian soldiers captured in the Kursk region. Another war crime by the Russian troops created such a resonance that propagandists in the Russian Federation quickly began to look for justifications for this cruelty.

Oleksandr Kovalenko, a military-political columnist of the “Information Resistance” group, writes about this.

“The Russians are rebroadcasting complete nonsense that in the photo, for example, everyone is alive except for one, who was killed by a shot in the head, who could have been drawn from someone unknown, and the others generally claim that there was an attempt to resist, and the prisoners were shot,” Kovalenko writes.

That is, according to the distorted “logic” of Russian propagandists, their soldiers “found” the body of a Ukrainian soldier with a gunshot wound to the head somewhere in Kurshchyna, stripped him, dragged him and laid him next to a group of allegedly alive Ukrainian prisoners.

“The evidence that those who surrendered could have made an attempt to resist is even more delusional. All are lying face down with their clothes undressed with their hands behind their heads. How could they resist under such conditions and be shot, in that position, in the face into the ground, hands by the head, without changing the position of the body? By the way, a soldier shot in the head, not only undressed, but also holding his head. That is, to pull his lifeless body from somewhere and put it like that – why bother?” – remarks Kovalenko.

The expert notes that such “versions” do not withstand any criticism and are not able to hide yet another war crime by the Russians and an attempt to intimidate and provoke the Ukrainian military.

“They are not only trying to intimidate the Ukrainian military with the psychological narrative of “we don’t take prisoners!”, but also trying to provoke them to act in response. They are waiting for the Ukrainian military to take revenge for the killed soldiers by shooting Russian soldiers, so that they can then gather the UN Security Council and accuse Ukraine of war crimes. The essence of these actions is completely clear,” Oleksandr Kovalenko stressed.
