On April 17, the Minister of Internal Affairs spent in Sumy Region. He visited border communities that are systematically attacked, met with National Guardsmen, border guards, policemen, rescuers, and local authorities.
“Since the beginning of 2024, Sumy Region has been shelled by the Russians more than 4,000 times. To understand: for the whole of last year, the number of shellings reached 6,000,” Klymenko noted.
The minister held several operational meetings. With the leadership of the police and emergency services – regarding the algorithm of actions during shelling, evacuation of civilians, provision of protective equipment and equipment.
They also discussed the operational situation in the region, the response to Russian actions, and the situation directly at the border with the command of the National Guard and the State Border Service. In particular, breakthrough attempts by Russian sabotage and intelligence groups.
