
The war unleashed by Russia is taking away not only childhood, but also the lives of Ukrainian children. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022, 44 children have died in the Kherson region, 268 minors have been injured.
This was reported by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
Since the beginning of the full-scale war, law enforcement officers in the Kherson region have opened 6 criminal proceedings and reported suspicions of 12 persons in committing war crimes against children. 5 indictments were sent to the court against 7 people, one person was convicted.
In addition, in 2025, 26 lawsuits were satisfied in the field of childhood protection for the amount of almost 25 million UAH. 240 hectares of educational land were returned to state ownership.
This year, 16 indictments were sent to the court (excluding war crimes) for criminal offenses committed against children. Of these, 8 are for grave and especially grave crimes, 2 petitions for the release of a person from criminal liability and 1 petition for the application of compulsory educational measures to a minor.
