Since the beginning of the large-scale war, Russia has carried out 1,068 chemical attacks in Ukraine, including 250 in February of this year.
This is reported by the public relations service of the Support Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: “Mobile groups and other units of the group of forces and means of support have recorded 1,068 cases of use by the Russian Federation of tear irritants, which are equipped with poisonous chemicals prohibited for waging war (combat operations) by the point 5 of Article 1 of the Convention on Chemical Weapons”.
Only in February 2024, 250 cases were recorded (244 cases of the use of cluster munitions, one case of the use of gas, and five cases of the use of other chemical munitions).
Units of Radiation, Chemical and Bacteriological Intelligence take samples of soil, vegetation, and ammunition fragments and send them for analysis.
As part of open criminal proceedings, documented cases of the use of dangerous chemicals are submitted to investigative bodies for investigation.
As reported by Ukrinform, in the operational zone of the Operational and Strategic Group of Troops “Tavria” the Russians carried out nine drops of ammunition with a chemical substance from UAVs in one day.
