Since the start of the full-scale invasion, Russia has killed more than 100 civilian medics in the line of duty in Ukraine.
Health Minister Viktor Lyashko said: “More than 100 medical workers died, were killed by Russian troops on the territory of civilian health care facilities. This figure does not include those who work in the ranks of the Armed Forces, does not include those who remained in the temporarily occupied territories. 1,887 medical facilities were damaged by shelling, 216 buildings cannot be restored,” Lyashko said.
As the minister added, the World Bank estimates that at least $7 billion is needed to restore the damaged buildings of health care institutions to the state they were in before the full-scale invasion.
Also, the minister added, the Russians are attacking emergency medical vehicles.
“584 cars are the identified losses in the emergency medical assistance system today. This is every fifth car,” Lyashko said, adding that these statistics take into account ambulance cars that were damaged, completely broken down and stolen by invaders. The minister reminded that in the frontline regions, the Russian army constantly attacks “ambulance” vehicles.
